US witnesses increase in IT jobs
08 April 2011
Return to index
The number of
IT
employment opportunities in the US climbed during March 2011 to nearly four million, new data show.
According to a report from TechServe Alliance, the sector has witnessed strong jobs growth, with 1,400 roles created last month.
The latest labor market study by the organization reveals the
industry
workforce expanded by 0.04 per cent between February and March 2011 to stand at 3,999,400.
A series of 15 increases in a row have been recorded in
IT jobs
in the US, the latest monthly index indicates, with companies increasingly reporting strengthening of their operations.
TechServe Alliance chief executive Mark Roberts remarked: "The addition of nearly 160,000 jobs since a year ago paints a decidedly upbeat picture of demand for
IT
professionals."
Figures from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics recently pointed to a rise in total non-farm payroll positions in the country of 216,000 month-on-month in March.
