US IT jobs market 'to continue expanding'
21 July 2010
Return to index
Further growth is forecast in the US information technology (IT) employment market, a new report has claimed.
This is according to research conducted by the Techserve Alliance, which indicated that it will outstrip expansion in other sectors.
Jobs in the industry rose by 3,600 to 3,864,700, according to the study, following a boost of 9,200 the previous month.
The group of IT services companies and bodies noted that the year-on-year increase in positions was nearly 0.7 per cent higher than during June 2009, compared with negative jobs growth in the private sector as a whole.
Mark Roberts, TechServe Alliance chief executive, remarked: "We are encouraged that the IT sector continues to outperform the overall job market ... we remain heartened by the six consecutive months of growth to date."
Individuals seeking IT jobs in the US may also be interested to learn that the country witnessed a fall in joblessness to 9.5 per cent during June 2010.
