UK sees rise in demand for new accountancy professionals

08 September 2011
UK sees rise in demand for new accountancy professionalsAn increasing number of accountancy jobs are being made available in the UK, according to a new study.

The latest Reed Jobs Index figures have revealed demand for newly-qualified professionals in the sector rose by some five per cent in the month of August when compared with July.

Meanwhile, the number of new jobs available in the field was 22 per cent higher than at this time last year, with a 34 per cent increase noted from December 2009.

Martin Warnes, managing director of Reed.co.uk, said: "Clearly at a time when employers are struggling to grow their businesses, it is qualified and part-qualified accountants who top their wish-lists for valuable new staff."

Malcolm Horton, global head of recruiting and programs Nomura, recently told the Financial Times there has been a "significant" rise in the number of finance graduates finding work.

His company has placed 200 in full-time jobs in Europe and 200 on various internships throughout the last 12 months alone.
