Pune has topped the Tier II cities employment table, according to a new study undertaken by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and
Industry
of India (ASSOCHAM).
The report, entitled New Employment Centre in Tier II and Tier III Cities, revealed Pune has emerged as the leading employment provider in India during the fourth quarter of the 2010 to 2011 fiscal year with a share of 21.5 per cent of all jobs.
According to the study, the city's top five employment generating sectors consisted of information technology, information technology-enabled services, banking, education and the automotive
industry
.
Following Pune in the top five Tier II cities employment table were Lucknow, with a 15.5 per cent share of jobs, Pondicherry, Surat and Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, plans to improve youth employment in the Indian state of Kashmir were recently revealed by the Indian Express.
According to the publication, a Skill Employment and Empowerment Scheme will be established to train as many as 100,000 Indian youths over the next three to five years using work placements.
