Plans to launch Indian bank entrance testA new exam that is aimed at assisting those seeking work in the Indian banking industry is planned.

The government is looking at ways of streamlining the recruitment process for finance jobs in India.

Intended to reduce the time it takes to appoint candidates, the test will apply to roles in public sector institutions and will be accepted across the country.

Due to be introduced in 2011, it will cut the recruitment process by around a third compared with the time it currently takes for clerical workers and officers to gain approval.

Chief executive of the Indian Banks Association K Ramakrishnan explained to the Press Trust of India that a number of common entrance exams will be staged annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.

Meanwhile, the Indian labor minister has predicted the current period of the five year plan to 2012 will see the creation of 58 million new jobs in the country, according to the Indo-Asian News Service.
