Employment growth has returned in India along with stronger economic performance, an executive has declared.
In a recent interview with the Business Standard, S (Kris) Gopalakrishnan, chief executive and managing director of Infosys Technologies, revealed "we ourselves have given 19,000 offers in campuses".
Asked about whether large-scale hiring by IT businesses has returned, he claimed "the industry is increasing recruitment", with other companies also looking to increase their staff base.
"We have seen two quarters of good growth," Mr Gopalakrishnan explained, adding that the company has added new clients and is seeing strong expansion in sectors such as manufacturing.
He suggested it is currently "a good time for employment in the IT services industry".
IT and consulting specialist Infosys is the second-largest IT services business in India and is based in Bangalore, with more than 50 offices and development centers around the world and in excess of 105,000 employees.
