India's organized sector 'provides 730k jobs'

India's organized sector 'provides 730k jobs'The number of roles created by India's organized industry stood at more than 739,000 between January and September this year, a new report shows.

According to figures from Ma Foi Randstad, the quarter from October to December 2010 is expected to produce a further 394,700 opportunities for work.

The staffing and recruitment consultancy's latest Employment Trends Survey reveals the sectors creating the highest numbers of roles included hospitality, real estate and construction, healthcare and IT.

Based on a poll of 660 companies in eight cities across 13 sectors of the economy, the study indicates 260,052 healthcare posts have been added in 2010, with a further 116,700 IT jobs in India.

K Pandia Rajan, managing director of Ma Foi Randstad, said: "We expect aggressive hiring in the coming months and also increase in salary levels."

The figures come after the Indo-Asian News Service reported Indian labor minister Harish Rawat predicted 58 million new jobs will be generated during the current five year plan period, due to end in 2012.
