Indian workers 'prioritize salary when choosing roles'

15 July 2011
Indian workers 'prioritize salary when choosing roles'Employees in India prioritize salary above other factors when it comes to choosing a job.

This is according to new research by Ma Foi Randstad showing that individuals in the country select employment security as the second most important issue when they are choosing where to work.

A survey by the recruitment specialist found behind these two factors, Indian members of staff rate office atmosphere and a good work-life balance as particularly important.

The Economic Times reports that older respondents cared more than their younger counterparts about the good reputation of an employer, while job location tends to be more important to women than men.

Popular sectors to work in were found to include IT and business process outsourcing, in addition to energy, consulting, hospitality, retail, automotive, financial services and engineering, among others.

A recent study by MyHiringClub.com and covered by the Press Trust of India indicated individuals are continuing to find jobs in the country, with companies increasing staff levels as their financial position improves.
