India 'leading IT global outsourcing destination'

India 'leading IT global outsourcing destination'India is the world's most popular destination for the global outsourcing of IT services, a report claims.

The study by Bharatbook claims "the IT sector has been one of the hotshots of the Indian economy", generating substantial job opportunities in exporting services and software, as well as within the domestic market.

In its latest report, Indian Information Technology Industry Overview, the analyst states the sector contributes six per cent of the country's total gross domestic product and its estimated revenue has expanded by more than five per cent to $73.1 billion for 2009-10.

According to the study, the industry is dominated by IT software and services, such as consulting, application management and system integration, something that may interest those seeking IT jobs in India.

"India is regarded as the premier destination for the global sourcing of IT-ITeS, accounting for almost 51 per cent of the global sourcing market size of $94 billion in 2009," the report reveals.

India's jobs market has the highest proportion of workers who would be prepared to move to another employer to boost their development prospects, recent research published by Ma Foi Randstad showed.
