High IT jobs growth forecast for India
26 October 2010
Return to index
India is expected to see strong growth in
IT
recruitment over the coming year, it has been reported.
According to an
IT
and outsourcing company boss, around 130,000 new positions in the sector are anticipated this year following a slight decline in hiring in the wake of the global economic downturn.
This is the prediction made by the chief executive of Infosys, Kris Gopalakrishnan, who believes that job creation in the
industry
will help to fuel growth in other fields, such as travel, property and
construction
.
Individuals seeking
IT jobs
in India may be interested in Mr Gopalakrishnan's remark, reported by the Hindu Business Line, that: "The
IT
sector is in a scramble to recruit in large numbers."
Addressing a meeting in southern India, he added that attrition rates in the
industry
are likely to reach double digits in 2010.
His comments follow figures published by the Labour Bureau and Ministry of Labour and Employment in India, which showed employment increased between April and June 2010 for the fourth quarter in a row.
