Growth reported in US IT jobs
16 November 2010
Return to index
The number of technology positions in the US continued to grow during October 2010, it has been claimed.
According to TechServe Alliance, more than 10,000 new positions were generated by the sector over the month from September.
The
industry
group explained that figures have been revised upwards from an incremental loss of 200
IT jobs
in the US during September to an increase of 3,600 roles.
"The revised numbers for September and strong showing in October have reconfirmed our optimistic projections for future job growth in the
IT
sector," TechServe Alliance chief executive Mark Roberts stated.
A monthly index published by the firm for October indicated a 0.3 per cent rise in
IT
employment to 3.903 million, marking a 2.2 per cent year-on-year rise in positions compared with 0.6 per cent for non-farm roles as a whole.
The figures have been released in the wake of data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, which showed the US had 2.9 million job openings at the end of September 2010, standing at around 2.2 per cent for the month.
