23 August 2011
Growing BRIC IT markets could prompt jobs growthThe BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) nations could see significant growth in their IT sectors this year if a new report is to be believed.

According to the European Information Technology Observatory (EITO), expansion of ten per cent could be seen within the industries of these countries during 2011 to an estimated €410 billion.

The Berlin-based body added that China has seen its share of the global market expand to over eight per cent, making it the third largest IT nation in the world, with the high-tech sector expected to continue growing over the course of this year.

Bruno Lamborghini, EITO chairman, noted that emerging economies, such as those in Asia, eastern Europe and South America, are driving increases in the international IT industry, adding: "The importance of these markets for high-tech companies from traditional industrialized nations is continuing to grow."

India is expected to generate the highest rate of expansion in 2011, with its ICT sector rising by 17 per cent to €65 billion.

Recent figures from Ma Foi Randstad showed the organized sector in India generated over 700,000 new paid roles over the year to date, with a further 369,200 anticipated over the remainder of the year, including IT jobs.
