EU demand for labor 'growing'

18 March 2011
EU demand for labor 'growing'The demand for employees within the European Union (EU) climbed "significantly" during 2010, a new report has revealed.

According to the European Vacancy Monitor, job vacancies and hiring are growing, with new members of staff being sought by the manufacturing, non-financial business services and trade sectors in particular.

Tightening of some fields was identified during 2010 such as technical occupations, while areas with the highest number of positions available included sales and finance jobs in Germany, Belgium and France, retail positions, personal care workers and healthcare professionals.

The March edition of the EU study also indicated the labor market is experiencing positive development, although not all regions are experiencing the same rates of improvement.

The latest Vacancy Monitor has been welcomed by the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies, which pointed to rising vacancies in the temporary agency work sector as good news for the future of labor markets.
