Continued IT employment in US
12 September 2011
Return to index
Despite an overall slowing in labor market growth, the number of
IT jobs
in the US climbed further in August this year.
This is according to a new report from the TechServe Alliance, which has stated that employment within the sector "continues to buck broader economic trends".
Latest statistics from the organization also show there have been 19 monthly rises in hiring in a row in
IT jobs
, with last month seeing 2,100 new positions created.
This took the total number of paid roles in the
industry
to 4.0534 million, a year-on-year climb of 107,500 (2.7 per cent).
"While we recognize the fragility of the economy and the general labor markets, we continue to see strong demand for
IT
professionals," Mark Roberts, TechServe Alliance chief executive, commented, adding that he anticipates further recruitment in the sector.
Overall figures from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for August revealed that non-farm payroll employment remained stable over the month, while the jobless rate held steady at 9.1 per cent.
