Australia's financial services sector tipped for jobs

23 November 2010
Australia's financial services sector tipped for jobsA new study has selected financial services as one area that is likely to produce employment opportunities in Australia over the coming years.

This is according to research by Ibisworld, which reveals the sector is one of five industries that school leavers are expected to head for over the coming year, Money Management reports.

In its publication on the subject, the research firm forecasts new roles for those seeking finance jobs in Australia in areas such as share registry services, superannuation fund management, securitization and mortgage broking.

"With the return of investors to the market, the big winner in finance is the securitisation sector with projected employment growth of 29 per cent between 2011 and 2016," Ibisworld general manager Robert Bryant declared.

Other sectors anticipated to prove particularly popular with school leavers are integrated logistics, health, veterinary services and childcare.

In related news, recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics demonstrated a 0.2 percentage points increase in unemployment in the country during October 2010 to 5.4 per cent, despite a climb in the number of people in work of 29,700 over the month.
